Millenial Standout gives Suntree Organ Recital
26-year old Josiah Armes at Advent Lutheran Church February 23
The new 36-rank pipe organ at Advent Lutheran Church will sound with the stylings of 26-year old Josiah Armes during organ concerts at 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 23rd in Suntree, 7550 North Wickham Road. Armes will play the new A.E. Schlueter organ of 2,196 pipes, performing works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Josef Rheinberger, Hugo Distler, Herbert Howells, Olivier Messiaen and Alexandre Guilmant. In addition, he will perform Fantasy Variations, a work of his own composition. Homeschooled Armes has compiled an impressive musical record. His education includes a degree in organ performance from Stetson University, a master's degree from Yale and post-graduate work at the prestigious Eastman School of Music. A winner of numerous prizes and competitions, the Millennial Generation standout is currently the Organist and Assistant Director of Music at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, Florida.
